Building Committee Updates
March 2008
The Committee has received an offer letter from the City of Houston for the purchase of portions of Hickory and Morin Streets. An independent appraiser has been contracted to review the offer to determine if it represents fair market value. Architectural drawings are currently out for bidding by the subtrades.  The property has been platted across the street. The Committee is hopeful for construction to begin in April. Work continues in the new youth room which should be complete in April. The interior of the catwalk on each side of the Sanctuary has been painted black to address the aesthetics of the lighting slot. The Building Committee meets the fi rst and third Wednesdays of the month at 4pm.

February 2008
The new lighting systems in the Sanctuary and Gym are fully operational.  Over the next few weeks work will be done to complete both projects.  We're getting very close to the start of construction on the new facilities.  Drawings of the new building are now available in Nelson Flanagan's office.  Permits are anticipated by March when construction of the new Early Childhood Center is scheduled to begin.  The Building Committee has also approved the renovation for the new youth room.  The Building Committee meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 4pm.

  • New lighting in the Sanctuary was completed in December.
  • The appraisal for the purchase and closure of Hickory Street has not been received from the City.
  • The property on the north side of Washington Avenue is being re-platted.
  • Drawings of the new building are now available in Nelson Flanagan’s office.
  • Permits are expected for the Bus Barn/Car Care Building in January.
  • Permits are anticipated by March when construction of the new Early Childhood Center is scheduled to begin.
  • The Building Committee has also approved the renovation for the new youth room and music rooms.
  • The Building Committee meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 4:00 PM.

October 2007
The design work continues on the new buildings in preparation for construction. The Committee is planning to start with the Bus Barn/Car Care Building. (The current building will then become staging and storage for the construction of the Early Childhood Center.) The Committee is working to have new lighting and electrical updates done in the Sanctuary this year. The Committee will also be working with the youth group on developing plans for new youth facilities.

The loan application for the building project was approved by the Texas District Church Extension Fund (TDCEF) and is pending approval from the Texas District Board of Directors.  Your HUG (Help Us Grow) contributions will help us to quickly pay off this loan. Don’t forget that by investing with the TDCEF which offers competitive rates, you not only get a good return on your investment but Trinity benefits by a reduction in interest rate on our loan. Check it out at www.texascef.org..
